Ohm Shanti Ohm! How to Make Your Own Meditation Tracks
Your computer has a restart command. Can you program yourself to restart your mind? In this post we will share how you can practice more mindfulness by producing your own meditation tracks.
Another day in the office.
Imagine the phone is ringing with back-to-back calls.
Multiple people keep knocking at your door.
And you now need to pick up your child hours earlier than expected.
How do you maintain?
Put yourself in your child’s shoes.
You are required to sit still at your desk during the lesson at school.
The teacher reminds you of ideas you learned a couple of years ago.
And, you have so much energy inside, you are about to blow!
Pause for a higher cause.
Your inner peace is one of the most valuable assets you own.
When your inner peace becomes compromised, responses to situations can elevate your fear, and anxiety, or cause depression should you not have the appropriate tools to maintain.
That’s where meditation, breathing, and gratefulness can kick in.
You can ask Alexa to start Calm, Headspace, or play your favorite playlist on Spotify.
Or you can build your tracks to reprogram your subconscious mind and better face challenges as they arise.
I built this video inside Canva using royalty-free music, and my Rodecaster Pro.
I wrote the script to record my voice, combined the royalty-free music in Audacity, and used the track to guide the sequence of royalty-free videos available as a pro feature of Canva.
Each video scene’s duration can be shortened or doubled up. Although mediation is mainly practiced with your eyes closed, I have found it useful to paint an image in my mind when audio is the only option available.
Custom-Created Meditation for Groups
Leaders can build their scripts as if they were programming the minds of those they represent. Use your voice instead of synthetic speech markup language to produce the audio file. Synthetic speech (while seemingly cool) distracts the listener from the authenticity of the message communicated.
Custom-Created Meditation for Kids
If your child is on the spectrum or has ADHD, there’s an even bigger reason to practice meditation and transfer those skills to them. In this video, I used Amazon Polly, a tool to create the audio by using the child actor known as Kevin. This programmatic approach is more complicated and there are more tools now available that can generate audio files without understanding SSML.
Will you make the time to practice?
The tools to becoming more mindful in your daily life have been available for centuries. Applying the tools requires discipline, focus, and openness to making mistakes. For me, it is much easier to run a 5K than for me to sit still and focus on my breath for 30 minutes. Try these ideas:
Set up a routine to play your favorite meditation track on Alexa at a specific time each day.
Save mediation as an appointment on your calendar with the specific intention to focus on.
Practice with a small group in person or virtual. Apps don’t hold people accountable. People do.
